If Cats Had Thumbs
March 1, 2023

There’s a pretty fun pet holiday coming up: March 3rd is If Pets Had Thumbs Day. Fluffy may of course prefer to celebrate Hug Your Cat Day or Cat World Domination Day, but it is still fun to wonder about what sort of havoc she would get into if she actually did have thumbs. A Saginaw, MI vet makes some ‘petucated’ guesses in this article.

Lock The Dog Out

While not all cats and dogs get along, Fluffy and Fido can cohabitate peacefully. Many households have both, and their kitties and pups get along just fine. However, we suspect that many of our feline patients would be more than happy to get rid of their canine roommates. Poor Fido may find himself locked out of the house!

Change Security Codes

Fluffy can be very lovable and affectionate, but she does have a bit of a mean streak. It wouldn’t be out of character for your furry roommate to change all your security codes … including the pins on your phone and computer.

Order Everything

Speaking of phones and computers, kitties would probably go a bit wild in this area, given half a chance. You may very well come home to find your door blocked off by packages. As to what Fluffy would order? It’s probably safe to say she’d get lots of beds, cat towers, catnip, and kitty toys. Live fish would also probably make the list, along with a few random and probably useless kitchen gadgets and perhaps a flamethrower or two.

Chaos

To be honest, our feline buddies are adorable, fluffy little agents of chaos. We wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Fluffy wreaked all sorts of havoc, from making prank calls to spilling secrets on social media. That’s just what cats would do.

Sleep

Opposable thumbs have often been credited with the evolutionary success of mankind. However, don’t expect your feline overlord to be super impressed by this fact. Thumbs or no thumbs, Fluffy would not want to miss any of those 23 daily naps.

Video Games

Kitties are hunters by nature, so it only stands to reason that they may find many video games appealing. Gamers may have a hard time getting their controllers back from their pets!
